Basics of Great Skin, Part 1: Regime Change

The next couple of blog posts will offer great suggestions for great skin. We'll cover Dermal FX products and how they fit into the proper skin care regime and some interesting tips and tricks as well.

Part 1- Regime Change.
Hopefully this will be a peaceful coup; a skin care coup to be exact. We're kicking out any antiquating methods and products and replacing them with a gentler way of doing things. No more scrubbing, harsh chemicals or painful, invasive treatments. You'll get the results you want with a safe and effective regimen. Dermal FX offers seven products that work together to give you the anti-aging results that could once be attained only through surgery. The installments will include (but aren't limited to) cleansing, moisturizing, exfoliating and special dedications to the delicate eye and neck areas.

We'll give you the products and technique for implementing this regime change at home. Answer the call to change and reap the reward. (A bit timid about being you're own guinea pig? Check out our testimonials or visit us on facebook and talk to someone who uses the product.) Want to purchase any products we mention? Check out the website and pass it on to your friends. Read on for the first step to healthier, more vibrant, youthful skin.

Cleansiness is Next to Godliness...
(Any Real Housewives of New Jersey fans out there?)

The first step to healthy skin is cleansing. Washing your face every night, without fail, is essential. Night is when your skin renews itself. It needs to breathe, like any living thing, and it just can’t do that when covered in makeup, dirt and dead skin cells. Plus, who wants all that gunk on their pillow? A fresh face before bed allows your skin to recoup after a tough day.

So what’s the best method? Start with the proper cleanser. Balance is the name of the game, it should be strong enough to lift away dirt and makeup, yet gentle enough to moisturize as it cleans. (Don’t use an exfoliating product. These products are reserved for less frequent applications, think 1-2 times per week.) A separate makeup remover is not necessary, unless you’re drawing on your waterproof eye makeup like it’s a magic marker- you know who you are.

Dermal FX Moisturizing Facial Cleanser is a great product because it gently lifts away impurities (including makeup) while protecting the skin’s moisture with its milky texture. It leaves the skin feeling smooth, wonderfully soft and clean. There are no foaming bubbles, only a silky cleansing “milk.”

There is a special technique to cleansing correctly- no scrubbing allowed (and definitely no washcloths!) Instead, you’ll want to gently massage the cleanser into the skin with your fingertips. Also, take special care around your eyes and neck, the skin in these areas is especially delicate and prone to lines. As long as you are gentle, and careful not to pull, you’ll be fine. Not only will this lift the dirt it will also aid circulation, bringing fresh blood and oxygen to the face, which promotes a vibrant youthful glow.

A quick word about the neck and décolletage: we often forget to take special care here but the truth is the skin in these areas is much more delicate than in other areas. Use the same technique here as you would on your face. And remember, consistency is key.

After you’ve gently rinsed with lukewarm water, pat the skin dry. Be careful not to rub or pull the skin. A little moisture on you’re skin is ok; there is no need for bone dry.

Now that your skin is properly prepped for hydration and nutrition, a suitable night cream is next. Read our next post for Dermal FX Day and Night Cream and learn it's importance in the fight against bad skin care.
